The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the principal as an administrator to improve academic administration services at SMPN 8 Sungai Penuh. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with purposive sampling technique as a determinant of research informants. As for the key informant, the principal is the principal while the informant is the deputy principal, head of TU and teachers. Based on the findings of the research, it is known that the indicators of curriculum administration management at SMPN 8 are good compared to other indicators, it can be seen that curriculum administration activities at SMPN 8 Sungai Penuh include preparing lesson schedules, compiling programs (plans) based on quarterly, semester, and yearly, filling out a list of class progress, making lesson plans and syllabus, conducting evaluations of learning outcomes, making reports on evaluation results, and conducting guidance and counseling. All of these tools have been implemented optimally, while the weakest indicator is the administration of public relations. This is shown that the relationship between the school and the community is only the relationship between the parents and the school. Each activity is equipped with minutes and attendance as well as a summary of the results of the deliberations, but most of the community does not participate in every activity carried out by the school.
