PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DALAM PENGEMBANGAN LAPANGAN MERDEKA KOTA SUNGAI PENUH SEBAGAI RUANG PUBLIK

Abstract

This research is motivated by a lack of public awareness of the importance of preserving public  areas, because the community considers it to be the duty of the government and the involvement of the community by the government in community development so that people feel they have no interest in the development of the Sungai City Merdeka Square as a public space. The results of data analysis, can be concluded. 1) Participation in the form of money, indirectly the community has given their rights for development, especially in the construction and development of the Merdeka Square in Sungai Penuh City as a public space on the other hand. People use Merdeka Square to seek additional income. 2) Participation in the form of ideas, the community does not get a place or medium to channel ideas and ideas. But only a handful of people can participate in expressing their ideas and thoughts, namely contractors and architects who are indeed mandated to do so. 3) Participation in the form of decision making, here the community is not involved at all. 4) Participation in the form of a mandate, the community is mandated or gets a mandate, from the government in order to preserve and utilize the facilities of the Merdeka Square in Sungai Penuh City as a public space.
