Abstract

Crimes of domestic violence which continue to occur every year in Kerinci Regency certainly require the Kerinci Police/Polres to have a vision and role in carrying out their duties in dealing with and resolving crimes of domestic violence. Supported by Law no. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence and other efforts by the police should be able to reduce the high number of cases of domestic violence in Kerinci Regency every year, but in fact in the last three years cases of domestic violence have increased. The problem is: What is the role of the police in resolving criminal acts of domestic violence in Kerinci district. This research approach is research using qualitative research methods using a descriptive approach. A descriptive approach is used to collect data systematically, factually and quickly in accordance with the description when the research was carried out. Research results: The role of the Kerinci Police PPA Unit in resolving criminal acts of domestic violence in Kerinci Regency can be done in two ways. The first is through penal mediation, a concrete role carried out by the PPA police unit as a mediator in resolving criminal acts of domestic violence, namely by summoning both parties, namely the victim and the perpetrator. Then they met directly to discuss to find the best way forward. The police as a mediator are also tasked with helping to formulate the objectives of the litigants so that an agreement is reached.
